Welcome to our very first Saorsa Studio Snapshot!
These monthly posts will give you some insight into what’s on the go at our studio – from competition and performance results, to our student of the month, to the new initiatives we always have on the go👀

January Reminders for Saorsa Studio Dancers
- All classes, including our new set of 12-Week Programs, begin on Monday, January 8th.
- All completed dance card applications, along with competitor and parent contracts, are due to the studio on your first week back to classes. No exceptions! We’re doing everything possible to have no incomplete applications this year – please take advantage of our helpful resources linked below as you complete your application!
- Our next Studio Social is January 27th. Find info below.
- Save the date: Our Year-End Recital will be Saturday, June 8th, 3-6pm (the recital will not be 3 hours long, but dance families should plan to be available for that block of time).
- Reach your full potential in 2024! Nicole’s 4-week Stamina Series is back starting January 8th! Find info below.
- Registration is open now for 12-Week Programs which start January 8th! Find info below.

Studio Social: Medals Tests Celebration!
All dancers and dance families are welcome to join us in celebration of our dancers’ accomplishments in their 2023 Medals Tests!
All of our incredible dancers who completed tests this Fall will be recognised and receive their certificates and awards all the way from Scotland.
Attendees are welcome to bring a celebratory snack, but it is not required.

Student of the Month: Jillian MacLeod
Congratulations to Jillian MacLeod, who is our student of the month for December 2023!
Here’s what Jillian’s instructor had to say:
“Jillian always comes to class ready to listen and work hard, her smile and friendliness towards her classmates does not go unnoticed. Jillian has been working on her corrections at home and is making leaps and bounds in her dancing! Great job Jillian”
4-Week Stamina Series - Reach Your Full Potential in 2024!💪
Nicole is back offering her 4-Week intensive Stamina Series designed to increase your stamina, just in time for championship season!
MONDAYS 7:45-8:30pm
BEGINS JANUARY 8th
Each week, this class will be a combination of progressive increase of steps, and HIIT training for our anaerobic system. You’ll be working towards: 8 step fling, 3&1&1 sword, 6&4 ST, 10 step tulloch. Doing the regular length dances will be a breeze after you finish these 4 weeks😅💪
We have both in-person & virtual options available, plus session recordings if you’d prefer to complete on your own time.

December Studio Social: Christmas Party!
One of our highlights from December 2023 was our annual studio Christmas party!
We are so thankful for the incredible Fredericton Highland Dance Association for organising this celebration for our dancers, parents, and instructors to enjoy together.
Festivities included potluck snacks, crafts, games, and a competition to turn your dance teacher into a snowman!

December Competition & Performance Wrap Up
We had lots of dancers attend the Moncton Christmas competition as the very last competition of 2023! Congratulations, dancers, and a huge thank you to the Moncton organizers and volunteers for a fun & festive day!
We also had an amazing group of dancers volunteer to perform at the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew’s St. Andrews Night feast!
This was some of our youngest dancers’ very first performance – we’re so proud of their courage getting on stage!

Saorsa Studio Instructor Photoshoot
One of our December highlights was a photoshoot for our instructors at our South Side studio in the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. Here’s a little sneak peek into some of the amazing shots👀
Used Dance Shoes for Sale
We have a few pairs of used shoes available at the studio for any dancers looking for a pair!

Do you have used ghillies that you no longer need, but are still in good condition? Sell them through the studio!
Bring your used ghillies in a bag that includes:
- Your name
- E-Transfer details
Shoes in good condition will be sold for $30, and shoes with visible signs of wear will be sold for $20.
Looking Ahead for January
We have many exciting events happening in January 2024 to start us off on the right foot for the new year. Here’s what you can look forward to next month at Saorsa Studio:
- Shanachie Junior and Senior will be performing at the 2024 FROSTival Freddy Burns Bash at Picaroons on January 26th. Find event info here.
- We’ll be having our Winter theme week: Crazy Sock Week!
- Our classes will be racing against the clock to submit their final practice hours for both the Saorsa Studio Practice Crew and our Class Practice Challenges!
