Whether you’re a Saorsa Studio parent looking to plan for the year ahead, or you’re curious about coming to New Brunswick to compete – this is your guide!
There are seven New Brunswick competitions on the official 2026 schedule, with most taking place in the major cities of Fredericton and Moncton.
There is also an exciting addition this year: The ScotDance Canada Championship Series will be returning to Moncton! This is our favourite event of the year, and we’re counting down the days to the 5oth Canadian Championship event that will be part of the Series!
Stay tuned for our follow up post with allll of the details you’ll need to attend SDCCS Moncton.
What do you need to compete in New Brunswick highland dance competitions?
As with any highland dance competitions, competitors must have a few things to participate:
- An official RSOBHD Dance Card. You need this to register and to pick up your competitor number on the day of the event. Are you new to competing? Here’s a bit of background:
- The appropriate costume(s) for your category and the dances you’re competing. This typically includes the Kilt outfit, which has different standards depending on your competitive level. It could also include the National outfit, Jig outfit, Hornpipe outfit, or even a choreography costume.

- Finally, anyone looking to compete needs to register for the specific competition. Entry forms are released in the run-up before competitions. More info in the below sections!
Entry forms for 2026 Competitions
Competitions release their own entry forms, typically at least one month before the event date. All forms, as they become available, are posted to the ScotDance New Brunswick website.
Another place to find entry forms (which is convenient but not quite as central or regulated) is Facebook.
If you’re a Saora Studio competitive family, you can watch your inbox – we send out entry forms as we receive them!
